Women’s
Ministries Unlimited is a ministry designed to provide an opportunity for women
from various
churches in the community to worship together. Each year I
plan 3-4 events that bring us together to be
encouraged to become all that God
has intended for us to be.
Each service
is especially designed to provide opportunities for building relationships and
being challenged
to grow spiritually in Christ. My goal is to find
interesting ways to present the gospel message of Jesus
in non-traditional ways.
This year our format has been more of a ‘talk-show’ which I’ve entitled,
“Matters
of the Heart”.
I have
interviewed two very talented and gifted ladies, Sheila Zellers and Missy
Monokian, who have shared
about their struggles from childhood through
adulthood. Both of these ladies were sexually abused and have
gone through
painful experiences that have shaped their lives. Sheila Zellers taught us
that the only way to become all that God has intended
for us is to allow the
Holy Spirit to get to the heart of the matter and choose to forgive.
To choose is not to excuse the abuse, but it
brings about a freedom for
the victim to become a victor. Missy, who is a comedian that kept
us in stitches all night, taught us that “a merry
heart is like medicine”.
She reminded us that we have to make the choice to rejoice.
